IMD Makers Brand and Web Design
IMD Makers is a curated showcase of student work from Algonquin College’s Interactive Media Design program, featuring a bold, youthful brand and a dedicated website that highlight experimentation and digital storytelling. I created a vibrant, modular identity system that extends across event posters, digital promotions, signage, and motion graphics, ensuring a consistent visual language while allowing individual student projects to stand out.
To support the event online, I designed and developed a custom WordPress website with tailored PHP templates and a custom post type for student portfolios, enabling dynamic profiles, project galleries, and category-based filters that make the showcase easy to explore and scalable for future cohorts.
Goal
Develop a flexible brand and future-proof website to showcase student work from the IMD program and support the annual Makers event—featuring personalized profiles and project galleries.
Approach
Using WordPress as a CMS, I created a fully custom theme with PHP templates and ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) to manage student content. I built in category-based filtering, custom fields for bios, projects, and social media, and styled everything to match the event’s bold visual identity.
Results
The final site presents student work in an engaging, organized way—offering a clean and scalable solution for future cohorts. The WordPress backend allows easy updates by faculty or coordinators, while the custom code ensures flexibility in design and structure.
